![]() ![]() I did my best to approximate the same distance from subject unless the lens minimal focal distance prevented that, and shot all of them wide open at their largest aperture. Maybe someday I can bring myself to tear it out. But it was planted nearly 20 years ago and has grown large enough to offer a lot of shade in the front yard and driveway. Bradford Pears are bad for the environment and I feel bad for having it. Grumpy Cat has been affixed to a tripod in front of my blooming Bradford Pear tree. Not having a model around, but yet wanting to make a direct comparison, I picked my Grumpy Cat (RIP) doll to pose for our adventures in bokeh. To be fair, the Zeiss is longer than 50mm but is considered to be on medium format and is an interesting and different prime choice if you are looking for something other than the standard 85mm f/1.8 portrait lens. Zenit Helios 58mm f/2.0 M44-2 (M42 screw mount with Nikon F Adapter)Ĭarl Zeiss Jena Biometar 80mm f/2.8 (Pentacon Six mount with Nikon F Adapter) Nikon 50mm f/1.8D (the workhorse of 50mm primes and the only autofocus lens out of the bunch) The 6 lenses I wanted to compare side-by-side are: It is also reversible, but of course you must have a M42 to Nikon adapter( without glass). I have 2 helios lens, different age and I cannot use the same diameter of wire. It works 100% on my entry Nikon, full infinity focus. It is easy, just must do with patience, and find the right wire for it. Here's another album (this modification is not suggested, months ago To see my recent photos (advertise :-P ) you can guess how I love this great lens. Now it works well, and one of my best lens for Nikon Df. So I bought another one (for backup and other M42 cameras), cut the original Helios at the end, permanently glue it on the F-mount adapter. I made flickr album for following that, I came to love this lens too much. I've read your article (almost few months ago) and modified the lens adapter, and successfully attach Helios 44-2 to my Nikon. Could I use this lens using an adapter without doing anything else to either the camera or the lens? I only plan to use it on portraits and I don't mind being on manual mode. I have an old Nikon D3000 and recently I've been given the Helios 44-2. In short the only thing left from the adapter is the nikon flange that the lens threads into. don't have anymore pictures of the process. Hey diablo.sol can you share some info on doing the thing? Of course the infinity is achived on NIKON D300s.ĥmp.eu/web.php?a=nikonfinity&o=AELSmwxnRs I could modify not only this type of old lens the 44M-6 MC to 8 blade of iris. What is the second ring with for? Is it a spacer? What is the height of both the rings. Top ring i presume came from the adapter ring which you chopped. Could you elaborate the process by posting pics or give details? I see from the first photo, you've got two rings. I have 2 Helios 58mm M42 that i want to convert too. IE if damage is done to yourself and/or equipment. ***Attempt at your own discretion, I will hold no responsibility for the irresponsible. ***Also this will permanently make your Helios a Nikon mount. Procedure is straight forward if you're feeling crafty. Mounts up nice and solid, only thing needed to add is some sort of slot for the lens stopping pin. Works great and does not hit the mirror at infinity. Hacked up my ebay Nikon F to m42 adapter to achieve full focus range on Helios 44/2. ![]()
